Microsoft Dynamics GP 18.4 now available

November 8, 2021

Microsoft Dynamics GP 18.4, the latest version of this proven ERP, is now available. First update since the launch of the new GP roadmap extending into 2028, this new version renews Microsoft’s commitment to Dynamics GP.

Improvements brought to Dynamics GP 18.4 are grouped together under three main categories: ease of use, customer requests, and extended functionality. Here are some of the financial improvements you can expect in more detail.

Scroll through segment accounts

By user request, scrolling buttons have been added to the “Number” field of the Account Segment Setup window. Once a segment has been selected, these buttons let users quickly scroll through the segment numbers currently set up.

Default inquiry sort options

Users can now save time by setting up default inquiry sort options for payables, receivables, and bank reconciliation. Documents and transactions are thus always displayed based on each user’s preferences.

Update account descriptions using mass modify

A new option has been added to the Mass Modify Chart of Accounts window to update the existing account descriptions to match segment descriptions for that account. Dynamics GP will take the descriptions of each segment from the Segment Setup window, and build a string to easily update your new account description.

Summary-post receivables cash receipts through bank reconciliation

Users can now choose how customer cash receipts should be deposited to bank reconciliation for receivables batches. A new field named “Post Deposit” was added to the Receivables Batch Entry window. Users can then deposit customer payments for each receivables batch individually or as a batch.

Of course, other Dynamics GP modules have also been improved, namely distribution, human resources, and payroll. System and workflows have also been enhanced, for example with workflow automations.
