JOVACO’s 2020 Year in Review
It’s (finally!) time for our 2020 year-in-review post! The past year brought its share of changes and challenges, but despite everything, it was an opportunity for JOVACO to redefine itself. Adaptation has always been part of our DNA: after all, this is how we lasted more than 35 years! We not only made it through an eventful year, but also supported our clients while they had to overcome their own challenges.
As president of JOVACO Solutions, here is my review of a year definitely unlike the others!
January
JOVACO kicked off 2020 with some big changes already! Following the implementation of a new business methodology, we started the year with an employee meeting at the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium. I followed in the steps of founder Jean-Claude Coutu as president of JOVACO, and Jonatan Coutu became General Manager. Our employees also learned JOVACO’s vision for the next 5 years as well as its objectives for the year.
March
As we all know, 2020 had other plans in mind! Following the sanitary and lockdown measures put in place in response to COVID-19, JOVACO had to transform rapidly. We pride ourselves on our friendly work environment and had to find ways to maintain this atmosphere virtually. This also represented a substantial technical challenge. Our employees and clients benefited from various tools and training sessions to support work from home and overcome their challenges.
July and August
As we started getting used to our new routine, JOVACO still made an impression! JOVACO was named in Accounting Today’s VAR 100 annual ranking for 2020. This ranking acknowledges the top resellers, consultants, and implementation specialists in the accounting sector. We also celebrated our 20th anniversary as a Microsoft ERP and CRM partner.
September
To grow closer as a team, we completed a leadership and corporate culture training session offered by Happy Culture, which was well appreciated by our employees. We also started using Atman Co’s psychometric data and tools to improve the management of our teams’ competencies and allow our employees to know themselves better.
October
We launched our brand-new JOVACO Project modules: JOVACO Project for Estimation and JOVACO Project for Analytics! These two modules complete our offer by letting clients benefit from a complete project practice. They can now build and submit accurate project estimates and increase their analytical and tracking capabilities.
November
Our 5th Employee Recognition Night took place virtually this year to highlight our team’s contributions and efforts. Later that month, our employees also benefited from a training session regarding soft skills offered by international speaker Benoit Chalifoux, which resonated deeply with many of us.
Despite the challenges and hardships we faced, this year allowed us to grow closer as a team. We put in place several virtual activities: Q&As, employee surveys, breakfast meetings, virtual cocktails, poker nights, bingo lunches and trivia lunches, etc. The year drew to a close with a virtual Christmas party hosted masterfully by our Business Development Director Jonathan Chatel. During our traditional GM’s lunch, a virtual auction also raised $1,500 to help a family in need.
I hope you enjoyed this 2020 year-in-review post! We’re starting 2021 on the right foot by putting in practice the tools and knowledge we’ve accumulated this year. On behalf of the entire JOVACO team, I wish you a happy new year 2021 and thank you for your trust and your loyalty!
